The Gap Between You and Me

After months of silence, he finally spoke out.

“Why don’t you leave your room and take a stroll? You’re hurting your eyes.”

There are all these words I want to say, like how I don’t want to take a stroll when all I have ever wanted to do was to leave and never return, how my eyes are not hurting like he thinks because my routine has changed and he’s never bothered to find out, how my response doesn’t matter because it’s only a role he’s acting out.

Instead I say, “Thank you sir, I will do as you have said.”
